  • Also known as a curb stringer
  • Generally used against a wall

  • Tread not visible from the side

  • Mortised attachment and non-visible hardware for treads and risers
  • • Closing the space under a staircase with a load-bearing wall should be planned: storage space, or wall covering underneath the stairs (gypsum board, wood, etc.)

Bracketed stringer

  • Also known as an open stringer
  • Generally used on the open side of a staircase
  • Stringer is cut as a bridgeboard, and treads are placed on the stringer
  • Treads visible from the side, overlapping the stringer by 25 mm
  • With or without risers
  • Stringers, treads, and risers made of solid wood
  • Closing the space under the staircase with a load-bearing wall should be planned: storage space, or wall covering underneath the stairs (gypsum board, wood, etc.)

Stringer: 19 mm thick x 305 mm high
If no risers, thickness must be 45 mm
Treads: 27 mm thick x 267 mm long
